Formed in 1989, the Indiana Genealogical Society strives to help preserve and publish materials relating to the people who settled the state. IGS has been at the forefront of efforts to make Indiana’s historical records more accessible to the public by indexing and digitizing records.

IGS sends out a FREE monthly e-mail alert, titled Indiana News, which is full of both time-sensitive information as well as research tips. Subscribe here

Members of the Indiana Genealogical Society have access to our growing collection of databases. We currently have 2,317 databases, covering all 92 Indiana counties. We add new databases every month.

Members of the Indiana Genealogical Society also receive electronic delivery of our publications, IGS Newsletter and the Indiana Genealogist. The IGS Newsletter contains news items from across the state, while the Indiana Genealogist contains record abstracts and helpful articles relating to Indiana genealogy research.

The 2024 Annual Conference is a 2-day event. Local Indiana genealogists will present eight sessions. For the schedule and registration link, visit the Conference 2024 page.
