IGS Annual Meeting & Conference

Judy G. Russell

The Indiana Genealogical Society's annual conference will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at University Hall on the campus of Indiana State University (401 N. Seventh St.) in Terre Haute, Indiana. The featured speaker will be Judy G. Russell, JD, CG, CGL, of The Legal Genealogist. The local host will be the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society. There will also be a Society Management Seminar offered on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Vigo County Public Library in Terre Haute.

RESEARCH LOCK-IN: The Vigo County Public Library will be holding a Research Lock-In on Friday, April 24 from 6 pm to 8 pm, which will be free and open to the public. During the lock-in, historian Tim Crumrin will give a brief presenation on "Where Does Your Family Fit Into History."

DEADLINE: The deadline to register online for the conference is Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11:59 pm Eastern. After that, you can only register at the door ($50 per person). If you want to purchase a membership before registering for the conference, you must do so before Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11:59 pm Eastern, to give us enough time to e-mail you the login information you will need to get the member rate.

FOOD: Jazzman's is a cafe that is conveniently located inside University Hall. They will be open from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm the day of the conference, and they serve breakfast and lunch items. Download their Food Menu (PDF) and their Beverages Menu (PDF).

HOTELS: The Wabash Valley Genealogy Society has compiled information on Terre Haute hotels (PDF).

FLOOR PLAN: The Wabash Valley Genealogy Society has compiled a Floor Plan (PDF) of University Hall, showing the entrances, location of restrooms and where the sessions will be held.

REGISTRATION: Register online for the conference using the form below, or print out and mail in the Registration Form.

INDIANA LIBRARIANS: LEU credits have been approved for many of the sessions - see below.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Arriving in Terre Haute on Interstate 70 (either from the east or west), get off the Interstate at Exit #7 which is 3rd Street. Go north on 3rd Street to Ohio Street. Turn right on Ohio Street and go to 9th Street. Turn left on 9th Street (one-way going north) and go north on 9th Street onto the Indiana State University campus. Stay on 9th Street until just past Chestnut Street, and the parking lot will be on your left. University Hall will be directly across 8th Street from the parking lot (between 7th Street and 8th Street just north of Chestnut Street).

Coming in from the north on US Highway 41, turn left onto Ohio Street and follow the above directions.
