The cemetery is on the north side of Winchester Road on the south bank of St. Mary's River, about two miles northwest of Decatur in Root Township. There is a section located to the south of the drive before the main part of the cemetery, which some people believe was a "Potter's Field" section for extremely poor people; however, there is no proof of this. Most of the burials in this section are for members of the Williams family.
