Index of Shady Cemetery, Adams County, Indiana

The cemetery is on the north side of County Road 500 North (one mile south of US 224) between County Road 600 West and County Road 700 West in Kirkland Township (NOTE: County Road 700 West in Adams County is also known as County Road 800 East in Wells County, the county line).

This small cemetery, consisting of 12 short rows, has the earliest burial date of 1844 recorded on a stone and it is still active. A chain link fence surrounds the cemetery on three sides. Six large trees border the gravel county road; three on either side of a wrought iron gateway, which is at the entrance to a grassy drive that divides rows 9 and 10.

This cemetery reading was done in July 1998 and was compared with the 1956 DAR reading and, in some instances, using the relevant WPA data.
