Businesses in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana (1976)

Submitted by Randi Richardson

In 1976, to celebrate the nation's bicentennial, an unknown Bloomington newspaper printed an insert that included brief sketches about a large number of Bloomington businesses, their ownership and establishment. These sketches often included a photo, typically of the owner but occasionally of the establishment itself. Unfortunately, this insert was separated from the rest of the newspaper at the time, so the name and publication date of the newspaper is not known. The Monroe County History Center in Bloomington has preserved this insert because of the valuable information it contains. Contact them to request a copy of a given sketch.
