Deaths in the Bloomington Weekly Star, Monroe County, Indiana (1927-1930)

Submitted by Randi Richardson

ABOUT THIS SOURCE: At the end of each year the Bloomington Weekly Star, one of the leading weekly newspapers in Monroe County at the time, published the names of all those who had died during the course of the year, along with their date of death. Typically, the newspaper also published a brief obituary for each person shortly after their death. However, you should not assume that the newspaper's list of deaths is comprehensive, accurate in its spelling or that every death necessarily took place in Monroe County. Consequently, it is important to corroborate the information in this database with information from other sources.

To obtain a copy of an obituary, you can contact the Indiana Room of the Monroe County Public Library, which has the newspapers on microfilm. Additionally, many of the obituaries for the individuals in this database may be found by searching the archives for the INMONROE-L mailing list on Rootsweb.
