SOURCE: Yearbooks for the Smithville schools for the years 1936-1974 (no yearbooks are available for 1941, 1943-1946, and 1950-1951). These yearbooks included information on students and teachers in grades 1-12.
ACCESS: Scattered copies of these yearbooks are available at the Monroe County Public Library and the Monroe County History Center in Bloomington; however, the most complete set is available at the Red Men Museum and History Center in Smithville. Typically, Red Men Hall is open the first Monday of each month from noon until 4 PM and on the second Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. It is, however, suggested that dates and times are verified in advance of a visit as it is sometimes necessary to modify the schedule. Contact information is available online via the Smithville Now and Then blog.
