Burial Information provided by Wells County Public Library's Genealogy Department
NOTE: The cemetery is on Young Street at the intersection of Norwalt Street in Ossian.
The original introduction to this cemetery index states: “Due to destruction caused by vandalism, it was impossible to catalog all the names and data of this cemetery. Many names in this history were extracted from an old record kept by a former custodian, however his record did not contain any of the dates. This cemetery has not been used for many years as a public burial ground.
“According to a newspaper article: (no name or date noted) 'The “Old Cemetery”, which is located on Young Street in the southwest corner of Ossian came into being in 1847. The land was donated for burying ground by J. R. Lafever, William Craig and John Ogden….Following its dedication in 1847, more than 160 people were buried therein.'"
